Paul Verhoeven perfected in Total Recall and Starship troopers the super-satirical, anti-establishment perspective that dealt with very limited success to the capture of RoboCop. Total Recall and Starship troopers are perhaps the two most intelligent SF films ever made. Both have deep themes, and both are highly entertaining and can be seen again and again. When I think of all the horrible movies being made every year, one of my few consolations is to remember that perfect-looking action holidays as Total Recall and Starship troopers also exist. Total Recall was a success with me since the first time I saw him in 1990. There are a number of questions about its own structure that I have fought for years before the understanding * * The entire movie memories is the implant. From the first frame to last. Both Quaid of the comfortable life / wife, his work on the construction site, your visit to Memories - is part of the experience implanted. In this way all makes sense, and only did wonderfully. Also in terms of the overall production values, the film is very well done in 1990 standards. Great players, great story, some funny dialogue and much of the splendid action and excitement. 10 of the 10, definitely. |
This film is on television in the UK in some kind of cycle, and I just see parts of it every two months or so, and every time I see new things to choose from. I think this was the third time I had seen the beginning, because it really does not want to go to Mars, who did? Fifteen years on the effects do not really look at that date, which is a bit of surprise. In honesty not to use too many mutants of the bar freakshow and the comic-enlargement of the head at the end, but it is hard to recall another sci-fi from that of the early nineties which have not terribly years of age. The story is not much of substance and not going to inspire a new generation of writers of science fiction, and the acting is not particularly subtle, but it's great. After all, it's Arnie. Strike to the people, exploit some of the things, falls into a hammer up a few shirts, and that keeps us entertained. What more can you ask for? |
What do you get when you combine a story of one of the best writers of SF there, with one of the best directors of action there, with one of the greatest heroes of action are there? The answer: Total Recall This is a great film that has it all: good, very exciting and challenging action, a great story without big holes, and with some plot twists that I really think and, of course, Paul Verhoeven and perfect use of sarcasm (not so subtle) Humor. Of course, action is not first class (Arnie is not only a very good actor), the bad (Michael Ironside) is a cliché, but Sharon Stone as the wife of a bitch does for a lot. In addition, the special effects look a little cheap now but back then were really very good. This is a classic SF that everyone should see! *** 1 / 2 stars **** |
