This film was brilliant. Very funny and I was laughing all the way well. He was kept guessing right until near the end. I would recommend this movie to anyone with a sense of humor. David Hewlett has done a fantastic job with this. You can see the British side of humor, but clearly anyone from anywhere will find this funny. See this film. You will not regret it. David, I hope to do more because I will be right at the front of the queue. I have not talked to a person who has not loved this movie. It has been a while since I've been something to see and laughed so hard. This is a film for the entire family of any age. Thank you. Sarah. |
I attended the selection of Los Angeles for a dog's breakfast does not know what to expect. I was very pleasantly surprised! David Hewlett does an excellent job in the role of Patrick, the somewhat eccentric and a bit psychotic older brother of Marilyn, played by Hewlett real-life sister, Kate Hewlett. The title of the film is quite adequate, although you may have until the end of the film to understand it. Basically, the whole story about what is the dog, played by Mars, is having for breakfast. And, boy, do you want to be surprised, and possibly a bit raw to-know just what you have! This uproarious, black comedy is a must-see for anyone who likes to laugh and have fun. It is also a must-see for people who likes a darker side of his humor. This film is suitable for children of all ages. My guess is that it would be rated PG for some content. Younger children do not understand what is happening, but my daughter who is 8 years was absolutely delighted when she reaches the chance to see it! |
The twisty story and hilarious characterizations made this first film of Mr. Hewlett a pleasure to see, Other reviewers have commented on the plot intelligent and brilliant performances, so I will not repeat here that praise - suffice it to say that I am my own way Giggles through the film. Costumes really smart added to my enjoyment of the movie - just quirky enough to establish character without distraction from history. Dressed as Marilyn, in particular, as revealed much about her as Mrs Hewlett entertaining performance. Director of Hewlett used wide-angle shots with a stationary camera to great effect for some of the scenes outdoors without overdoing it - the choice he made really adds to the mood of the film. Hewlett actor and expressive face and delivers hilarious Patrick made a very real person instead of the caricature that easily could have become. A small object - this is not a horror movie! In the dark comedy of manners style hilarious "The Pink Panther 'or' A Fish Called Wanda, 'yes. Horror? Not so much. That is fine by me! |
After having the privilege of a preview of David Hewlett's latest effort, I have to say my opinion of him has changed. He is funny, eccentric and talented. For all the fans of Stargate, for all fans of David ... This is definitely a MUST SEE. And you will see more of David "Dr. Rodney McKay" Hewlett than you would expect. Also in the film are Kate Hewlett (the sister of David), Rachel Luttrell (Teyla), Paul McGillion (Dr. Beckett), Christopher Judge (Teal'c) and, of course, Mars, David of real life adorable dog. I had the opportunity to speak personally with David and his sister, Kate, who is the female star of the film. Well it is the only "real" women in "A dog's breakfast. Both were very charming and very individual and willingness to take the time to talk and take pictures with fans. Therefore, I say to all of you Stargate / Stargate Atlantis fans. Call your local theater and ask this film is shown. |
I was pleased to see the special screening in LA in November, and I was pleasantly surprised. I thought this would be what to order a vanity project for actor (David Hewlett), but this is one of the best comedies in the movie. I want to see again because I missed bits as the laugh was so strong - and virtually continuous. It's absolutely brilliant. A dog Breakfast * * deserves great news. This is a sleeper to make a lot of money by word of mouth. Unfortunately, I think Hollywood is allergic to films smart. Think of "Napoleon Dynamite," but better, oh Hollywood machine! Best of all, this movie is very original - dark, but sophisticated, intelligent and affable. It is suitable for almost any person, without yielding to the lowest common denominator (ie, no fart jokes). David Hewlett is an underrated actor - rent for the Canadian television series "Traders" if you can - that is quite remarkable. You can also catch him in Stargate Atlantis (which can steal a scene with just his position). I hope that "A dog's breakfast" gives you a wider audience. I also hope it broadens their horizons as a filmmaker. Write more, please! Kate Hewlett is also very good, and this brother pairing worked well. Kate plays the "straight man" wonderfully. She may not have much projects under his belt but was equal to David on the screen. She is a strong, charismatic, experienced actress. She has the chops to carry a film on his own. |
