| If millions of other great movies are made, "West Side Story" will still get a ranking as one of the greatest films of all time. Somewhere in the dictionary can be a word that is important enough to describe this majestic work, but one would be hard pressed to find it. I can not think of little to add to what others have said much more eloquent IMDb. Suffice it to say that while human beings have hopes, dreams and emotions, this movie never forgotten.Peace and tranquility in the open and wait for Tony and Maria somewhere.Namely the hearts of all who have responded to this, the more musical of them all. |
| I was so excited when "West Side Story was named the second best romantic film of all time by the AFI last year! Because I missed some of the show and arrived at ten o'clock I was convinced I had lost or were hadnt made the list ...... When we got to # 2 and the music started I was a dance in the street!. I do not care if the film was bent and took almost 40 years to admit it.I have had a Richard Beymer crush on for years and have found myself defending his performance in West Side Story for ages. (Not that he needs it). I was watchin the movie for the umpteenth time, and decided to seek reviews of the original stage play ... I have found many similar comments about Larry KERT performance that are so familiar that I am Richards.Then to beat .... There is an actor who has played every time that Tony could have done more with the part.Its the written form. Tony, like Romeo is a fish out of water, looking for something that no one understands. Therefore, to take a break, ok! George Chakiris and Rita Moreno is not nearly steal the show, and Russ Tamblyn appears you have so much fun ... The character I like best is Anybodys, the girl Jet Wannabe, and no I am not a Tomboy. When Tony rescues of sharks after the Rumble ....( I think his name is Sue Oakes, and I never saw anything else. Ned Glass as Doc and Simon Oakland as Krupka are also excellent. AFI Thanks for choosing this favorite of mine. As one of the ads when the film first hit television said, unlike in some movies, West Side Story grows younger. |
| Saboteurs: This film is a timeless film. No matter how many times I see the Jets (or sharks) or moving dance on the street, I never get tired of it. The prologue is one of the best, with the jets surveying his lawn, the rest comes from the route of gang members as the music accelerates, you really can feel "this is their street and that love is." Enter Bernardo, and music tones to a more tense note .. "this is the enemy" . Bernardo goes and gets his own friends, and the music accelerates, as the shark moves through the jets signal, a clear challenge. Later still, until the inevitable struggle in baseball, from which the story continues , And drones and the aftermath approaches. Although I was not a fan of Tony / Maria story, I can not see this film with absolute anticipation whenever, because all the other characters: the ice: the cooling is a member of the gang ever Anybodys: the persistence of that Tomboy wants to be a jet, Bernardo: an adversary cold and action: the brooding gang member with anger issues. And the songs .. Cool, Krupka Officer, The Quintet, the song Jet .. And if you do not caught on the screen .. well, nothing. Taken together, make a masterful film, where the music is as much of the success of the actors / characters. See this film. |
