Very, very poor job by Mr. Scorsese. I got most of his fine movie: Gangs of New York "The Shave" through "Raging Bull" And Gangs of New York is by far his worst film. Leo is absolutely useless as an actor. I pity their fans. This Gangs of New York History movie represents the Irish siding with the release of slaves, this is wrong. More blacks were tortured and executed during the draft riots that any other group. Why, Mr. Scorsese?

This movie: Gangs of New York was so bad, I think it is beyond repair. Daniel Day Lewis is its only saving grace, he did a wonderful job. I found myself praying for the credits, seems to never end. He was brutally agonizing to see the history of drag and never develop into anythin like entertainment. My ticket to the Gangs of New York History movie should have come with a tablet of suicide.

I went to "gangs" in Christmas Day with a large group of family. A few were asleep, and some of us wish we had. This was a terrible spectacle! Zero character development or plot, and gratuitous violence. Now I'm fine with violence if it is relevant to the story, but there's no story here. Of the ten, more or less, I've seen with this show, one liked it. The rest of us wanted the last three hours ago. What a terrible waste of our vacation.

I agree with other posters about how boring this Gangs of New York History was. My husband left the theater wondering, what was that all about? I could forgive, (Oh, I really can not) that is historically inaccurate, but this Gangs of New York movie does not even rate as fiction. This is a simple revenge story straight. DiCaprio is horribly miscast. What is the problem? No Irish players? That role needed someone like Colin Farrel, but have not improved the plot. It was not the silly love story that could have done without altogether. This is where away from the others, I think Day-Lewis was only a little over the top. His character should have been called Snidely Whiplash. I say this despite the fact that I thought was great last Mohicans. If you want to waste hours of your life will never return, and a considerable sum of money, go to the bands.
