In fact, I saw this movie before I saw "the guns of Navarone," and I have to say, I prefer "Force 10". It seems that always comes on television on a rainy Saturday afternoon, and I always sucked right in. I've probably seen about 10 times. Despite some laughable special effects, and another dated production value, this film packs a good war action punch. Not many films are set in WW2 Yugoslavia, and that one of the interesting elements of the film. The story itself is a classic "against all odds" type of case, involving a covert mission Allied with a dual purpose. The great Robert Shaw is a standout, and a young Harrison Ford shows why it eventually became the colossus that is. Music enthusiast, tense action sequences, shootouts, knife fighting, bombings, rescues, deceit and deception to "Force 10" of a lot of fun. |
The film is good, but for historical Chetnicks incorrect and Partizans. Drazak captain in the movie is the name of Cethnik leader Drazan Mihajlovic, who was not a traitor. He was honored by the American president to saving American pilots. Chetnicks and Partizans fought for freedom, but Partizans cattle and wrote his story and that communism in the country. But I understand that in order to make the film in Yugosalvia film directors must accept their view of things So please take this into account when viewing this movie, just enjoy, but we do not accept the historical truth in the case of this movie. Thanks to all who read this! |
Okay, the original Guns of Navarone is much higher than this sequel. The original had a great story, one seriously, a debate about morality and the immortal performances by Quin, Niven and Quale. Unfortunately, there was also played by Gregory Peck Mallory, a British officer who speaks German as a German. You can not say much about Peck's German, since not all speak German myself, but just a little sound wood. But why do not speak English Mallory as an Englishman? At the top of the Peck dramatic scene that reminded me of William Shatner's style of acting. Force 10 of Navarone is not the work of art Pistols. As many have said before, Carl Weathers character was completely out of place here and many other things went wrong. But the one thing I would like to point out is that what many consider a blooper really is not one. Mallory still suspected of being the character Nero traitor who thought it was, long after the alleged Nero are cleared. Mallory Miller knew only spoke German as a German! So when the character Nero proposes to join them because they do not speak German, Mallory keeps his mouth shut about being able to speak German so you can keep an eye on the nature of Nero. You know, keep your friends close, but keep your enemies even closer. It's the logical thing to do. This is what I would have. Shaw is the only thing in this movie that was better than the Pistols. Peck was a bad choice. Shaw and Mallory is really great. |
One of my problems with the period of the movies filmed in the 1970s is that it seems difficult for the players in the 70s, is necessary to examine the period shown in the film. For example, in "Force 10" Carl Weathers is a good 'fro. I was not around at the moment, but I'm thinking that he had difficulty finding a documented case of a 'fro on any person who participates in the Second World War. The lack of authenticity in so many period movies made in the 70s are intensifying. I guess you just have to learn to accept it and move on. But it makes me wonder why a movie like this (with big stars from the date such as Ford, and even Shaw Weathers) was done with so little commitment to authenticity. I think we could probably allow some creative license to westerns, where the characters have long hair, but come on, the Second World War? The set of things about the discipline of the armed forces and the fashions of the times dictate that a 'fro is so out of place. Period. He reminds me of Donald Sutherland hippie tank driver "Kelly's Heroes." Simply not fit for a film of the Second World War. |
