| How Kevin Bacon did not get an Oscar, let alone a nomination is beyond me. What's wrong with the Academy? this is a better performance than Tom Hanks in Forrest Gump, I was moved to tears by the man, is a heartbreaking performance. He should have been nominated for 'The woodcutter' as well. Great actor. But I must say that a watch is not easy, and violence is unrelenting, that reminds me of the time they once saw a boy get bullied in school, it never ended and I remember feeling terrible for the poor chap, the fact that he is a true story makes me shudder. Gary Oldman gives one of the most heinous actions that I have ever seen, while Slater is shown in depth as the lawyer trying to remove it from jail as soon as possible. |
| This was a very entertaining movie about the horrible treatment of a prisoner in Alcatraz certain named Henri Young who robbed a store of five dollars ($ 5.00) and was sent to jail. Henri Young was played by Kevin Bacon, who did a fantastic job of acting and captured their attention through the film. There were many scenes filmed on the island of Alcatraz and some old-time scenes from the first warden of Alcatraz, James R. Johnston. Christian Slater (James Stamphill) was the attorney assigned to defend Henri Young, who had a hard job trying to rehabilitate his client so that he could be tried and even speak a few words. The youth was in such bad shape mentally are put in solitary confinement for three (3) years, it was like an animal instead of a human being. This version of Hollywood is not all completely true about Henri Young, who actually has a long history of crime and mental problems. However, this movie is very entertaining and Kevin Bacon put his heart and soul into this role. Enjoy. |
| This film was excellent. Yes it is true that it was not as precise as the facts that could have been tried, but only as a drama, the film was at its best - excellent acting, directing and cinematography. However, I would especially like to congratulate Christopher Young unbelievable score of music. It is disturbing, beautiful and emotional, and contributed greatly to the feeling of the film. Two scenes where the music has been used with great effect: the tracking shot after Henri attacked the other prisoners, and the creation of the courtroom after the dissolution of an aerial shot of Alcatraz. Thanks to all concerned to make this great movement and the image - I want to go and make movies! |
