In the early 1950's, the threat of Communism created an air of paranoia in the United States and exploiting those fears was Senator 'Joseph McCarthy (II)' (qv) of Wisconsin. However, CBS reporter 'Edward R. Murrow (I)' (qv) and his producer 'Fred W. Friendly' (qv) decided to take a stand and challenge McCarthy and expose him for the fear monger he was. However, their actions took a great personal toll on both men, but they stood by their convictions and helped to bring down one of the most controversial senators in American history.

This film is about the campaign of Senator McCarthy against ill-communists and the struggle of the CBS-journalists against their witch hunt. It is displayed in a line and at the same time also very difficult form of the stony path to the truth. Today it is very difficult to believe that this is possible in the media scene in the U.S. At present (but that is my personal view as a non-American) and also in many other countries too. The film shows a wise very well the conflict of interest by seeking an uncomfortable and also check the problem of making a truth established. Clooney has done a great job as an actor and director as well as monologues and Edward R. Murrow is impressive. Ray Wise showed that his best work is always in a crowd by playing a man (if you remember Twin Peaks). Only Jeff Daniels vulnerable to gravity "Because I always think of" Dumb and Dumber "(but not to take this seriously, my own feeling is funny to see this movie). Altogether a very nice film that gives an idea to deliver the work of journalists and critics of its business situation, if I had not really something in common with the true story of Senator McCarthy.
