| I was very surprised to come here and see the relatively low rating for this movie. I have enjoyed in 1998, when he left, and tonight, while watching the second time, I think I like it as much as I did then. This is an innovative CGI movie with a fun plot that any age can enjoy. (Okay, so maybe the Barbie doll scenes were a bit strange for someone under the age of 9.) Definitely worth seeing IMO, if you want a night of good, fun fantasy. It is not a success by any means, but definitely entertaining. And besides, what child would not want to have a box full of toys that could actually communicate with him? |
| Ah yes a Hollywood movie family in the same vein as Toy Story, so expect some very paternalistic, derivative drivel, or rather because I don `t SMALL SOLDIERS found to be a movie much better than I expected. Much of this was reduced to the fact that the film does not `t talk to your audience and the fact that no` t have to put with a multitude of scenes with CGI wrong. Well, fair enough, it `s very clear" that sa GI Joe doll along behind a bicycle, but in the context of history that `s exactly what` s supposed to be. SMALL SOLDIERS also makes witty references to the tastes of PATTON and the terminator (See if you can spot) and what a lovely creature of the Archer is Gorgonites. Gorgonites! You gotta love that name I enjoyed this movie and, despite it not being a classic of all time, I recommend it as an entertaining family film |
| Thanks to an error, a toy store Winslow Corners - a small, quiet town in Ohio, one receives shipments of action figures of war. The former defense Globotech provider and its president (Dennis Leary) and employees (David Cross, Jay Mohr) have become soldiers of dangerous toys to be mistakenly implanted with military intelligence chips.Commanded by Chip Hazard (voice of Tommy Lee Jones) by virtue of having the site and its city rival battle toys, the Gorgonites led by the Pacific Archer (voice by Frank Langella). The film packs a combo of noise action, excitement, spectacular visuals, and is quite entertaining. Bonito main cast and supporting cast according to Kevin Dunn, Phil Hartman, Wendy Schaal, Robert Picardo and Dick Miller, an actor usual Roger Corman and Joe Dante, among others. The Commando Elite is like attacking the "dirty dozen" movie, in fact, the voices are played by the original casting, Ernest Borgnine, Jim Brown, George Kennedy and Clint Walker. | Small soldiers is good old fashioned, Tongue in cheek fun. Regular film observers will see many of their favorite, caricatured here all together, whether as a Commando Elite-Gorgonite or a warrior. The names of the characters, particularly the Commando Elite, are very good, and worthy of a prize of their own. Although some of the animation is a bit of wood, which only seemed to add to the feel of the film. While you do not have any pre-conceptions about this movie, and ignore fashion, you are in for some very entertaining fun. | I know that the summary has nothing to do with this comment, but I thought it would be fun to start this review. "Small Soldiers", believe it or not, is more valuable than it seems. Yes, it may be an imperfect film, but considering that this is a movie born in the heart of Hollywood and studies aimed at small audiences (and not so small), "Small Soldiers" is its potential to create a successful political satire, a very dark. Joe Dante (a very underrated director) is a specialist in filtrating that kind of political message. And they wonder why it decided to direct this movie. The best part is that it also works as a family film where the characters are pleasant enough to care about and it's really entertaining. Anyway, I like it. |
| While serving as fun as his previous works (Gremlins and INNERSPACE in particular), the cult director Joe Dante has created what I had credit as its weakest effort in a movie that strangely slickly fuses, but rather dark tones (the violence) in a wackiness of Looney Tunes cartoons. Yet, significantly, SMALL SOLDIERS is a worthy, noble effort at duplicating Gremlins, while call-off of the toy history, erasing the feeling good and smiling image of cowboy dolls and toys of space that the animated film. The special effects work here (by veteran Stan Winston and the band of Industrial Light & Magic) are of the highest quality, the sequence almost indistinguishable from CGI and Animatronics. The movie even manages to pay certain amounts of pyrothecnics and (literally miniature) explosions, especially during the end of next climax. The problem lies in the real aspects of the film: human characters (just hook) and plot (which this film has no). The cast (Tommy Lee Jones and Frank Langella as the voice of toys, and Denis Leary as CEO a sleazy poking fun at Donald Trump) are very good, but rarely used in movies weak writing. But overall, SMALL SOLDIERS offers a fine, and thankfully short, 108 minutes. It is worthwhile family entertainment, but parental guidance is very necessary. Rating: *** 5. |
| These toys are never at a loss or a strong QUIP Board quickly and keep things humming happily along a movie in which love Kiddies. Toy soldiers steal the movie from adults - not too much of a task since the main functions are strictly nondescript. But once the toys start to show some signs of life, the film moves along a fast clip fun with some references to other films - Franz Waxman in particular the "Bride of Frankenstein" uses the music for a party where one of the commands shouted: "It's alive! It's alive!" Gregory Smith as the problem-making teens and Kirsten Dunst as his girlfriend are pleasant enough. Phil Hartman has a supporting role rather like his father. However, the voice talent of Tommy Lee Jones as Major Chip Hazard and Frank Langella as Archer (leader of the Gorgonites) that provide the most entertaining moments, as they give life to the figures of toy. If you can suspend your disbelief long enough to absorb the silly premise of the story, you'll have a good time. The children probably will be fascinated by the natural numbers and adults can find it all very amusing, despite the silliness of the basic plot. All the production values and special effects are first class. Some fear and fun, clever lines to the end. Not bad. And Jerry Goldsmith prestige for a lively and pleasant background score. Once you punch out of their wrappers, terminators are these toys! |
