What's Eating Gibert Grape is a beautifully shot movie of tenderness, caring and self-awareness that is set amongst the fictional working class one street town Endora. Centred around the Grape family Ellen and Amy and their two brothers Arnie and Gilbert, who, along with their morbidly obese widowed mother Bonnie Grape are striving to survive and coexist with the absence of a father figure, low wage work and seventeen-year-old Arnie's severe mental condition. It is in this awkward and extremely one sided affair that the unfortunate Gilbert (Johnny Depp) has to constantly, while working for the town's slowly dying Convenience Store, take care of his younger brother, played to such depth and conviction by a very young Leonardo DiCaprio. Gilbert's life, his future, is thwarted he know this, but it is in this Guardian Angel that his love and bond for Arnie cannot, and will not, be let go. That is until the free spirit of Becky (Juliette Lewis) arrives in town, and with her grandmother are stranded for the week while waiting for parts for their vehicle. This realisation unties new feelings, new thoughts and new hope for the put upon Gibert, something new is eating Gilbert Grape.

Johnny Depp stars with Leonardo DiCaprio in the 1993 film "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." I give it 2 thumbs up! I would give it an award for "Best Performance". It's a movie that your whole family can enjoy. I give the whole entire movie an A + for his performance, gypsum, etc., and generally I give an A +. If you've seen this movie then you'll enjoy Johnny Depp in the film "Benny and Joon." "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" is a movie you MUST have! If you're a fan of Johnny Depp then you'll love this movie. At first when I heard about that I do not think you'd like. Then my grandma got me the DVD. I was not going to see, but then I decided to watch and it turned out that I loved it! And I know you love it too.

The mix of reviews for this movie are hard to resist, but there must be some signs of progress. What's Eating Gilbert Grape is sporadically funny old story for a city of life that centers along with growing pains that run in the family. The idea is placed on how to deal with stranded relatives, but somewhere along the line, the mood is rewarding and makes you interested. Johnny Depp is fine as a young man who succumbed to all sorts of pressure at the same time romance with a client who saw in the grocery store. You only need more emotional value. Leonardo DiCaprio in his pre-TITANIC role of a young man of 18 years of age, disability is a show-thief. A bit of comedy relief is expected of her annoyance, magically animated character who takes risks without sudden injury. Brilliant acting on his part. However, the film has a gentle descent into the pasture and ends to the point of absolute uncertainty. A natural history of heart that will appeal to fans of DiCaprio.
