This is a fun movie that digs at people who take advantage of the race to follow their own agenda. It is not at all PC. Frankly, it's not as good as the book. Check with sincere friends of more than one race and we all laugh out loud and appoint one or more persons that could be portrayed. The general is excellent and the cast is first-rate. JHC
I loved this movie, rented and seen twice in 2 days. I was captivated by the titles (a 24-hour Timelapse photo of the skyline of New York taken from the top of the Chrysler Building!) And then the first scene: Bruce Willis drunk on the pilgrimage with over sycophantic handlers the bowels of a hotel, leaving chaos in its wake. It may not have improved from that point, but I've never lost interest. What did I miss that led to so many people who do not like the movie?
It's a pity people do not get this movie, but its a real shame most of the critics do not, either! This is the best movie I've ever seen, De Palma the best for now. What must be done about this movie is its complex code ironic. If you can not get the irony, the "film" seems meaningless to you. Stylistically, this is De Palma most of the film, based on theater acting, pulling the boundaries of conventional film acting to the very edge. The entire cast is so bright! Follow the camera, the angles and planes, the twisted perspective of the camera is the most important technical tool for producing ironic effect in this film. All that was said and done in this film can be seen not only in the virtual, but also in metaphorical form, and that is where rich Symbolic politics comes. This is the movie that links with political success and appearance in a beautiful and inspired interaction, and is highly recommended for anyone trying to cultivate his taste.
Deep exploration of anatomy and the course of a greedy, ambitious and self-centered life in its various forms (through several characters with unique forms of greed and ambition and lust). Several people get their fair share of humor, often in unexpected ways. And that really meet intelligent film.
This is a good movie. I have read many reviews that people thought it was horrible, but I think it was good. There was a great cast. Bruce Willis was great as the almost always drunk reporter, Tom Hanks as a man kind of issue that mix a hit and run accident. Beth Broderick was too good, but this film allowed him to a small role that was a very crucial role. Melanie Griffith is irritating at times, but that is the way to his character, so it was great in that role. This is a movie you would recommend for teens and adults taking into account that there is only cussing and morale of the film.
It is absolutely the best portrait of our culture today that I have ever seen. The writer was decades ahead of his time in seeing through all the saccharine sentimentality and superficial razor thin concern most people to show the eternal greed and vanity that drives them. Hell, we now have the parents of children killed in beating each other to get their faces on "Good Morning America." How tragically pathetic. Great movie.
