Actors: Harlow, Shalom as Colleen, Diaz, Cameron as Julianna 'Julie' Gianni, Milicevic, Ivana as Emma, Willens, Jhaemi as Jamie Berliner, Galecki, Johnny as Peter Brown, Shannon, Michael as Aaron, Taylor, Noah as Edmund Ventura, Mitchell, Delaina as David's Assistant, Russell, Kurt as Dr. Curtis McCabe, Lee, Jason as Brian Shelby, Cruz, Penelope as Sofia Serrano, Spall, Timothy as Thomas Tipp, Hart, Oona as Lynette, Cruise, Tom as David Aames, Swinton, Tilda as Rebecca Dearborn
David Aames takes all he has for granted; his wealth, his inherited publishing company, his good looks - his relationships. Especially his relationships. It catches up to him when a friend/sometimes sex-partner can't see their relationship the way he sees it. From that point, the movie takes a Lynchian twist that ultimately and literally pulls us into Aames' tortured psyche.

The trick with movies like this (THIS: Vanilla Sky, Fight Club, The Sixth Sense, to a lesser extent) is to look twice. After first seeing Vanilla Sky, I came away impressed, both with the artistic merits of the film, and the plot itself. But a second view, knowing the final ahead of time, was blown away by all the subtle intricacies that are right under the nose of the hearing, but apparently unapparent. A sufficient number of people who have already debated here. Suffice it to say that Tom Cruise once again proves himself as a dramatic actor and Cameron Crowe creates a monumental film, a masterpiece. This is not only one of the best films of the year, but one of the best of all time. A smart romantic thriller not seen since the days of Cary Grant and Alfred Hitchcock ... 10/10
After seeing the original Opens Eyes, I was excited about an American version of the film. You can see why Cameron Crowe and Cruise work so well together. Many people talk about the movie because that's what happens with many remakes of the times, but open your car and enjoy this pop-culture affected.
This is an Eyes Wide Shut is not. Why, oh why, could not this was the last film Kubrick? I think the bottom line is that for TC to be in a good role, it must have bash his face in. Maybe it was Kidman celebration, but there is a possibility that outside TC may be able to act. This is an order of magnitude better than any other paper that the TC has had. There are a few sheets with the management but to fair, the story is a bit more complex than "A nice guy is looking for a job in a bar and sat down" The biggest problem for me was the soundtrack is sometimes too intrusive in history for me. As for the final, well, you have to make a good case for me to dump my girlfriend Penelope Cruz. Tom Cruise could only have sex with a PC that then becomes an orgasm and Cameron Diaz believed to be a nightmare. The only way they could get better would be if she became one of six packs of beer and pizza afterwards. Or take both at the same time, but I digress ...
Engaging narrative and innovative, powerful performances, especially cruises, and Diaz and breathtaking cinematography. Possibly the best film of 2001, plays surreal do not get much better than this. I would urge anyone with an appreciation of the film ARTY to see this.Be warned mainstream viewers who just want to sit and relax with your popcorn does not enjoy this movie that is profoundly complex in terms of narratve. Once you've seen once they want to instantly see again just to make sure that you understand, like "Eternal sunshine of the spotless mind." It has to be one of Tom Cruise best performances to date and Cameron Diaz is a movement almost equal performance.
Vanilla Sky 2001 is a remake of the movie 1997 Opens Eyes (Open Your Eyes). And in my opinion, better and more human and emotional release. Tom Cruise plays David Aames, a selfish egomaniac that other people's emotions for granted, and thinks only of himself. Jason Lee plays Brian Shelby, David of the best, and in many respects, only friend. Penelope Cruz plays Sofia Serrano, Brian's girlfriend who accompanies him to David's birthday party. Cameron Diaz plays Julie Gianni, David casual friend out of bed. Kurt Russell plays Dr. Curtis McCabe, a psychologist to interview David. All of their interactions, and the consequences of them, making Vanilla Sky one of the most emotional and complex thriller ever made. I will not explain most of the plot, because it is much more convincing, less you know. Ignore all the people who call this film too confusing to follow. If you pay attention, not to be confused. The film is very complex but not confusing. And in my opinion, one of the best movies ever made.
The film is definitely worth seeing. I'm not sure why the film has made such a love / hate reputation, but definitely I loved it. Tom Cruise is a great actor. I wish there were more dramatic of these kinds of roles because I can act. Cameron Diaz gives a great performance and steals the show Penelope Cruz gives a solid performance, but was not as impressive as Diaz. Jason Lee plays Jason Lee, which is always fun, but, like Steve Buscemi of the mark occurrence of the 90s, Lee schtick is getting a bit tedious, in my opinion. Kurt Russell, I am a big fan, has a good role in the film. There was plenty of eye candy as far as the images. I loved the scene at the club. I think that Cruise did some of his best acting in this sequence. Rex Reed said that there are some unintentional laughs in the movie, but that was to say that it is involuntary? I laughed at several points in the movie, but that only made me enjoy more. What he called unintentional, which I call "dark comedy". We also enjoyed the diverse soundtrack. I would recommend watching the movie on a big screen, but one thing about the movie for those waiting to see on video or DVD. This is a movie that has to sit and pay attention a. If you're one of those people who likes to get up and do the dishes or fix the room or talk during the movie, you're not going to continue and therefore, you probably will not like it.
