A chess grandmaster is in a big tournament, and when his lover is found painted up and the blood drained out of her body he becomes a chief suspect. After he gets a call from the killer urging him to try and figure out the game, he cooperates with police and a psychologist to try and catch the killer, but doubts linger about the grandmaster's innocence as the string of grisly murders continues.

Knight moves is a very well-played film, with some fairly unknown actors. If you like thrillers, this should be one of your favorites ... I highly recommend (10/10) PS: Try to guess the identity of the murderer ...

"Knight Moves" is a good thriller in "Hitchcockian tradition." Christopher Lambert played an Chessmaster who becomes the prime suspect in a series of murders in a town in New England, who doubles as the site of a chess tournament. What I enjoyed in "Gentleman" was the direction of Carl Schenkel Scenes like the opening flashback sequence (beautifully shot in black and white), the use of light and darkness, and the climatic scene make this a tense psychological thriller. If there is one aspect I liked was the fool who play detectives and Baldwin Skeritt.

Excellent movie-dunnit. The establishment of a chess tournament as a backdrop for the various killings are unusual. Kept constantly guessing as to whether the "hero" is actually the murderer until the end where the murderer is revealed. Christopher Lambert as a chess master plays his anguish as well as the evidence suggests it is based to the extent that the police believed she did. Slips of the tongue Lambert also give the impression that he could be the murderer ... But is it? Diane Lane is good as usual, not much is asked of Tom Skerrit it does not much like the police chief. Baldwin is good as the injured policeman who has a severe aversion to the Lambert character. It is worth seeing for the first time for his own pleasure. Look for the second time that someone who has not seen before seeing their reactions to the mystery!
