Frequently cynical screenwriter Charlie Kaufman has just taken on a new assignment. That is, to adapt writer Susan Orlean's 'The Orchid Thief' into a screenplay, all of it based on the life of the eccentric John Laroche, an exotic plant collector based out of Florida. While his easygoing twin brother Donald, is writing scripts with ease, Charlie finds himself on a perpetual struggle that never seems to end.

In the adaptation Kaufmans admit they are ill-screen writers. Apparently, no one believes them, but adjusting persuasively demonstrates the truth of his confession. Nicolas Cage unfortunately lacks the imagination needed to communicate the depth of his inadequacy, his only physical actions suggest how confused must have felt. However, I am quite convinced the emperors have no clothes.
I love movies. I'm going to a lot of movies. I like a lot of different types of films. Occasionally, I will go to the theater and love every second of a movie so much that I do not want to leave, I just want the film is going to maintain, for the characters to keep talking. This is a very strange feeling. Pulp Fiction was a movie like that for me. Adaptation is a film like that. What movie! Nicolas Cage, Meryl Streep, Chris Cooper are all brilliant. Spike Jonze was the point. But the star is Charlie Kaufman. There are a lot of directors whose films I'm going to go blind, but I think that Kaufman is the first writer that I am going to see in the dark from now on (Confessions of a dangerous mind coming here i). simply brilliant. If you liked Being John Malkovich, that this love. It is a bit off-center, which is one of the reasons why it is great, so I can not recommend to everybody. If you went to see Kangaroo Jack this weekend, do not bother with the adaptation. ps - Why go see anybody Kangaroo Jack?
Amazing movie, but a question: Why did the waitress so scared when Charlie invited to the convention of orchids? She hopes terrified and could not say no to him? I would not say that you are treated as if it was their favorite client. That was weird for me.
Surreal, absurdly funny and very playful movie about the movie business ( "Do not call it the industry!") Written and directed by Charlie with supernatural Latin Kauffman and Spike Jonze. If you are familiar with their work (Being John Malkovich "), this is another intellectual tickles! Cage is in excellent shape as the scriptwriting twins who are actually writing the screenplay for the film itself as we see ... Ah-only See for yourself! In fact, the entire cast shines, with characters just to die! Although primarily a delight for fans of the film is highly unpredictable in a good sense of entertainment. It also throws in philosophical and very touching moments in its history swirls. In this way it is clear that drowning in too eccentric and smugness nonsense. I probably never look at orchids again without this in mind! 7 out of 10 Ozjeppe
SPOILER ALERT * * * * SPOILER ALERT Protagonist. Conflict. (Wedge in a love story). Character arc. Climax! Denouement. Three acts. Final with a Whopper and have them. You can fight it, but there is only one way to write a screenplay. Well, one way to write a script to sell, sell, and sell! Hollywood wins every time. "Adaptation" is admitting defeat and win. Kaufman is right. There is no way to make a movie about a guy who steals flowers. But then again, there is a way. I know because I just see that. It's called "Adaptation." Throw in some drugs of flowers, a car accident ... ooohh, car crashes are cool ... and sex. Do not forget about sex. Never forget about sex. When people are watching a movie, they are not having sex. But it is always good to remind the audience about the good times. Wrap around with some free horror and a flower thief and you have a green light in that picture! Therefore, the struggle to remain faithful to the books / ti / art collides head-on with the realities of movie making. What does the public want to see? What's hot this week? Who knows? How about a movie about a writer who can not write? Bright! A wedge in the history of love and can not lose. If you like movies about Hollywood and the creative process, you like this movie. Oh, and Kaufman's agent (Ron Livingston), cracked me. He knew perfectly well the line of icebreaker to ease the tension.
As for the movie as it is, with your name, and its plot, which honestly does not do much for me. I was kind of "forced" to see this movie. But in the end, it did more good that bad, really. Charlie Kaufman thoughts in the city (narrated in parts of the film, as in the beginning) and Susan Orleans passages of his book hit me very hard. The script is beautifully written and I've never seen anything like before. It's not just about orchids. It's not just about Charlie Kaufman and his boring life. It is much more than that. However, you'll have to see the movie for you to know what I mean. A review can not describe this movie.
