Based on Mary Shelly's novel. Frankenstein tells the story of Victor Frankenstein(Kenneth Brannagh). A promising young doctor who devestated by the death of his mother during child birth, becomes obsessed with bringing the dead back to life. His experiments lead to the creation of a monster(Robert De niro) which Frankenstein has put together with the remains of corpes. It's not long before Frankenstein regrets it's actions.

This Frankenstein movie obviously has no understanding of the plot (which is still ongoing and worthy of discussion today), but the person (s) responsible did see "Bride of Frankenstein" and managed to screw up the plot and where tried to incorporate in this film. Mel Brooks's Frankenstein Horror has more respect for Mary Shelly this disaster. Not surprisingly, a discount chain that I sold this for $ 5.50. Not worth even at that price! The concept of collecting body parts is a consideration, because we are now able to do so. The fact that this was written long ago (for a woman who was challenged by her husband and a friend to see who could write the best horror story) to be given the respect it deserves historic. This DivX Movie Frankenstein does not take into account the historical and current relevance of the work of Mary Shelly.

Not knowing what to expect, I was fascinated by this movie. It offers a great history, and no end in most movies. I loved the Lon Chaney "Frankenstein," and loved this one too! DeNiro was interesting cast as the monster. Branagh as Dr. Frankenstein was the participation of all, being devastated by the deaths around them and want to stop the killing. It's really a history of playing God, but also have the ability and intelligence to do so ---- and have the intelligence to see that it was not the greatest decision ever made. It's just a love story, bottom line. Do we want to bring someone back from the dead so we can spend more time with them? Branagh never deserved the credit for this movie. He directed a brilliant story that could have gone anywhere - is still within the love story. Mr. Branagh Congratulations!
