| Instead of offering the usual trite "Make sure you do not miss this movie, I will simply say," do not bother watching anything else in 2008 " After working as a drug counselor in the early 70s, I can assure you that this stunning film does not just do well when it comes to the horrors of addiction to heroin powerful that provides tips on the best way for an addict to make good his escape! Anyone working in the field would do well to buy the film and see that more and more and more. NA could also be put to good use in their groups. However, this movie is much, much more than a study on drug addiction. It is simply one of the most moving and motivating movies I've ever seen on the possibility of creative change achievable through the decidedly low-tech technique of people realize that in the end the bell tolls for us all today. Better yet beautifully illustrated and with great emotional impact to the almost incredible potential inherent in the process of each and every working toward something a little bigger than self takes selfish reality. My hat is off to everyone involved in this impressive piece of work! Brilliant script, brilliant direction, brilliant acting and some of the most innovative and creative camera work that all that I have had the joy of life! |
| The Good: The writing and acting are first class. The Bad: The handheld camera pans and scans and very, very close, close-ups are a little different conclusion. However, Benicio Deltoro is right with their performance! Best act I've seen in a while. He saw the film at a preview in Cleveland. The theater was full, and the reaction of most people was that it was too heavy, too depressing. But it is exactly that quality that makes it ring true. The interaction between the neighbor who hates his wife Benicio and character are perfect. A small role is played by Alison Lohman (Men phosphorus) was also very well acted. A camera firm in the wild, without pans and I would give it a 9 or 10. |
| When I read the title of this movie I thought um, alrighty then, because it kind of made me laugh and I really do not have to seriously.Pretty soon I heard so many wonderful things about him and I decide what to put in the heck.I guard him very soon and my eyes were glued to television screen.I thought of all the actors and actresses gave strong performances and the story was very intriguing.This was a very good movie, and Halle Berry took on a character I had never seen play before they blew my mind.I would say that this movie is flawless in their performance and return on skills, because there was nothing at all about what is in poor condition, but I gave it a 7, not only because "No excite me.I really mean it was actually kind of a boring movie to see, but it's still a great movie and I say if you have not seen it, you're missing something special. |
| While the film itself was very even pace throughout, allowing time to process the emotions that are conveyed in a way that the slow pace worked. This movie-everything from history to the characters, was surprising and refreshing. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to see a movie full of heart, brilliant performance, and a unique history. The wonderful act did not stop with Halle and well-benets characters including children were fantastic! There were just so much heart and likability in those roles. It's the kind of film that remains your head even after leaving the theater than for me, not happen often. |
| Greetings again from the darkness. Very good melodrama of Scandanavian director Susanne Bier. The film is intentionally slow motion ... as well as real-life tragedy. Although it could have been beaten over the head with the cute as hell children, the story is actually more focused on the heroin addict best friend, played by Del Toro benets. This makes the point that the force can come from many sources. Halle Berry gives her best performance since "Monster of the Ball" (yes, even better than "Catwoman"). We feel their happiness, pain, despair and hope. The children are played by a pretty incredible 11-year-old Alexis Llewellyn and Micah Berry (not her real-life son). Alison Lohman is also strong, it just does not work enough these days. However, performance is stronger for benets. I'm not sure if the role was written for him or if it only captures perfectly best friend Jerry. It is more complicated and requires enormous role depth. Definitely recommend the film because of its basis in reality and the fine performances and brilliant direction. However, I will choose to say that I do not think it is quite in the class of "21 Grams" |
