| Somber film of the death depressant and after death. Lots of nice little touches, as with the music - just pick up on it after talking to people about it. From what I understand not completely faithful to the book, although I have not read. Humor, oddly uplifting, because of the romance. They saw in this Sundance this year, was one of the Top 3 that we saw. Patrick Fugit was brilliant. Shannon was also strong. If you love dark films, it will not be disappointed. Can not comment on technical aspects of the film, because I'm not in the industry. Summary: Great cast, good writing. Fun times for all. |
| An excellent movie and well worth seeing: It defies pigeonholing in a genre, is a romantic comedy, but not at all * like the stereotype of romantic comedy, even if it does use some of the same conventions. It is a road movie, but not in the traditional sense. The dynamics and even the plot of work are credible and which require less suspension of disbelief that I had imagined. The music and film work well in a story that is dark / morbidly funny, but also a little sweet, not saccharine. He is well done and the characters are credible and very well developed. This is definitely an art-house cinema, but one peatonal really decent and affordable, rather than esoteric or exclusion (ie only appealing to the house of art-lovers in the movie). The sound works well, and the visual effects are only momentarily Cheesy. |
| Where ends when we die? What kind of hell are we going to do if we have "offed ourselves," as the characters of WRISTCUTTERS say? This fantasy film opens with Fugit character of the organization of Zia, cleaning and straightening his room, preparing himself for his death. In the blink of an eye, we see the body of Zia on the floor of the bathroom, blood all over the world, and we are transported to a world that is hot, dull, interminable and sad. Zia discovers that everyone in this world has offed themselves, and the physical features remain. Zia offed himself because of intense grief caused by his girlfriend Desiree. He is a friend of Eugene, whose entire family is there. There are days are filled with drinking, doing odd jobs and trying to pass the time. However, Zia discovers that his girlfriend had committed suicide and on a mission to find her. With Eugene, who roadtrip ... nowhere, the search for the woman and respond to Mikal, who also is on a quest for the PIC: dependents. The film follows these characters, as the search for something, someone to fill the void that was when they were alive. The film is well shot with great music and tender moments. The only negative about the movie is the writing. It would have been much more interesting to see an arc in the character of Fugit, however, is rather Straightline as everyone around him changes. |
