The film won warm applause after his heavy screening at the Dubai International Film Festival last night: the audience, a mix of Europeans, Middle Easterns, and the Indians, showering the director and author and lead actress with questions after the presentation. In particular, admires the end (spoiler ahead): hitting the "Bindi" on the forehead of George Washington - an excellent subtle invitation for a critical eye on what drives the work (and, inevitably, life) that the film does not aims to tackle head-on into yet shown all: after all, put the missing piece is no stranger to Seattle. It is also quite remarkable that both authors are not India: Bombay native asking my friends for a fact only confirmed the fact, the film captures a realistic picture of what India is similar. At least explored corners. Very impressive research efforts of the two authors. It would be a shame if this movie does not spread to more tests in more theaters in most countries: while it may be a marketing challenge in a monochrome world, which undoubtedly can have many defenders among those who go and in fact see it. It would be fantastic to work in the broadcast by unconventional means independent of the track after his success: are we about to witness a new revolution in film marketing? I can dream, but then, me neither India nor in America, I do not see how one must be either completely to enjoy this excellent work. |
I'm not a fan of romantic comedies, including "Friends", and because I believe it is pasteurized too politically correct. I thank God there are some good romantic comedies with another spice that tastes great for me and this film is one example. Basically the show is a sad clash of cultural U.S. call center manager sent to India to train a team outsourced. It's very nice how this movie shows how the de-passionate Yankee considers the meaning of life in that different place and culture. I am Brazilian and I know that some U.S. the people who come here to visit the country and decided to stay and adopted the Brazilian way of life. This film shows very well that to happen. If you want a good movie to see when you are depressed with their work, this collection ... and prepare to be ready to travel to an exotic place after it ends. |
Very well written movie that pokes fun of American Indians and cultures, but with respect for each. Filmed partly in Seattle, but especially in India. Do you see a call center director of its American section has subcontracted reluctantly and who travels to India to keep his job for a few more weeks until the stock options to its vest. It is considered a culture that slowly comes to respect and accept through an Indian woman who falls for and friendship with her co-worker. The story plays itself over many shots on location and near Mumbai. Almost feel like you've been there at the end of the film. A large Indian really puts a cast over this principle with many laughs. His next call with an Indian call center will not be the same. |
One of the happiest surprises of this year's Toronto International Film Festival was this charming, beautifully shot comedy, which is not only funny and moving, but in reality offers some ideas about Indian culture as well. Josh Hamilton is brilliant as Todd, an American businessman who is less than thrilled to learn from his office in Seattle is going to outsource its work at a call center in India. He was even more disturbed when his boss made it clear that Todd will be responsible for the training of Indian workers to operate efficiently, while orders sounding as American as possible, it is important for the company from all Markets-American knickknacks, such as flags in miniature, hot dog toasters and Wisconsin cheese hats. The culture shock that the results are played beautifully and wonderfully written. This has the potential to be another My Big Fat Greek Wedding, if handled properly. I hope it is. I've been a big fan of Hamilton for years and deserves a great success. |
