| Blackbeard live in Bristol where he lived and drank in a bar that still stands today, I thought that this would give it a try. I was disappointed at what could potentially been very good. He is poor to say the least, and the story was never something that had gripped from the start. The story came along at a pace that never threatened to accelerate, which left me a left-all. Although I do not know many of the historical facts about Blackbeard, I have always been led to believe to be Blackbeard the pirate most feared in his day. I never got the impression that throughout the movie, which again left me disappointed. If you are going to make a movie about Blackbeard, at least give him an edge, we like him. Although I can not say that I am an expert in dental hygiene since 1700, I was surprised how many pirates who had white teeth, not just something that feels more like a real pirate movie. |

| I enjoyed the performance, the scenery and the overall effects and a nice attempt FICTION movie pirate. This was not a film about the real Blackbeard, however - despite the fact that supposedly this is his meeting with Robert Maynard. There are some redeeming qualities, but two scenes seemed totally out of place - one being a rescue scene in a city where shades of Errol Flynn appeared. The other was the end. Although the film is entertaining at home, the historic value is far from satisfactory as the location of the story during the end is totally inaccurate. All historical accounts of the disappearance of piracy and discuss the location as the vessel off the coast of North Carolina - a place celebrated as the very last place of the infamous pirate - not in the Bahamas. |
| This part two, which is supposed to be the story of Blackbeard is an absolute stink. The plot is paper thin, the script is awful, the density of wood acting, it is historically inaccurate, including the ships appeared to be in a bad period. Richard Chamberlain (God help him) tries to act, but not miserably, the accents of the crew of pirate Veer comically "Van Dykian English" to New York via Devon and all stops in between. | This film is inspired by the true story of Blackbeard. Some of the events that happen in the film are taken from history, even if they are in a different location. Either way, it is very entertaining. The main plots and sub-plots offer thrills and intrigue, and romance. The fight scenes are well done and the whole story in general seems quite plausible to me. My husband usually does not like historical films, but he said he kept one in the edge of your seat. The complaint I had was that some of the scenes are shot in dark places and that makes it very difficult to see on the screen. I understand that this is keep it as real as possible, but do not do well when you can not say what is happening. |
