| This is comedy! Sometimes people are offended by things like this, but really! How can anyone be offended by such nonsense? Some reviewers found Akroyds "personalities" offensive. I found it amusing, because, of course, should not be taken seriously. This is slapstick, not Ingmar Bergman! The film was good pace, suspense and reasonably, as such, a film that tries to follow in the footsteps of films such as "48 hours" should be. One thing I like about this movie, however, and that's Dom DeLouise. He tries his best to ruin this movie, as it seeks to ruin any other movie I've seen in. The man simply can not act! He does wonder why so many movies. Does anyone know? On the basis of the other comments about not seeing this, but once again demonstrates that what the comedy someone is not necessarily the comedy for all. I enjoyed it very much this late in the evening, and probably do it again, and give it a solid 8. Possibly because he was positively surprised after reading other reviews ... |
| I am 15. First, I remember seeing this movie along time ago when I was about 8 or 9 years old. Now, after renting the video store that I had the chance to see her again. Gene Hackman plays Mac, a cop who is reluctantly partnered with Ellis (Dan Aykroyd) to solve a series of grisly murders. Ellis also happens to have multiple personality disorder and when confronted with the violence that is beginning to enter these alternate personalities, the most popular television personalities. Back to the story, the murderer behind the killings was a German named Von Metz (Robert Prosky), which has employed a bloodthirsty group of thugs to kill anyone who has seen a snuff film that contains the death of Hitler in the hands of Von Metz. Von Metz now, if you can get the film off the black market, almost certain to be elected as chancellor of West Germany. Now a lot of people have disse this movie for many reasons, I only agree with some of them. Yes, I think that Dan Aykroyd's character could have been thrown away by someone better, like Robin Williams. This film is not really all that violent, yes, people are shot a lot, but that is about it, although many people say it is. Too many people say this movie is not really that funny, I found myself laughing a few times. I give it a 6 / 10 |
| I thought that these two actors who make a good film together ... I was very wrong. The jokes were bad, acting Hackman (if you can, in fact, it is called) is forced, and Aykroyd is flat-that's embarrassing. He wanted to mourn, but could not, I was sleeping. Nothing worked on this movie. |
| Terrible movie that puts old detective (Gene Hackman), with an insane detective (Dan Aykroyd) to solve a complicated case. The strange association is made strange by the fact that Aykroyd has a kind of split-personality disorder that causes him to imitate characters from television, seemingly at all times. A film really poor waste of immense talent Hackman. A goose egg really rotten. 2 stars, 5. |
| It is a torture to stay until the end, but I did it so that I could be objective. This film is incredibly stupid, pointless, and a cliché-funny. Two great players, Gene Hackman and Dan Aykroyd drainage in 2 hours what they had built throughout his career. There is nothing in this movie is worth mentioning, except for the fact that it is so terrible. The worst part is, by far, that this bomb is trying to be funny. A total failure. Reaching the category that bad is good, but do not do, so I guess that even the guys who MST3K like this. |
| How could Gene Hackman to be part of this project and remain dignified throughout the movie? Dan Aykroyd, at least, has done much worse (remember Doctor Detroit), but that kind of Hackman expected to be above this sort of sleazy action / comedy. I suppose you thought he could do an Eddie Murphy was best at that time the king of comedy action. (Warning: spoilers) The plot that the Germans are trying to make a Fourth Reich is very tired and are in fact an easy target. Take a look at what happens when Robert Prosky makes its "best" imitation of Hitler at the end of the film and look at the screen behind him. Then, recalling his first at the scene and that is exactly as you predicted, but hopes that will not turn out. I remember seeing Prosky in Hill Street Blues, where he was absolutely great and then to see him here and say: "What a tool!" And let's not forget the Human dirigible Dom DeLuise. Maybe it was funny in the first part of his career, but to see what wheezing his way through a part that is the most miscasting makes you feel nauseous. Ronny Cox Beverly Hills Cop fame tries a southern accent that makes it sound like a very bad imitation of Billy Bob Thornton. What is curious about this below average film is how many famous people who make fools of themselves and ideal Dan Aykroyd should feel ashamed kind of annoying to see schizophrenia rather than a disease. Like Roger Ebert has said: "Anything can be fun if you run the right way." but this is definitely wrong. |
| Let me tell you that I have not had a good laugh in ages. I saw this movie last night for the first time and is hilarious from beginning to end. Paring up Dan akroyd Gene Hackman and I think that is one of the best team in the film I've done scene, the jokes, action and real characters themselves. After the plot on the Germans and which is set in Washington was pretty stupid I must admit, but it was all part of the story of how they came together. Both the lead stars, which are rarely seen these days because of idiots such as (Jack Black, will Farrel), taking all the air time. This is the kind of comedy that the young generation today should be watching instead of the garbage thats out these days. Well im glad these old films like this still exist. |
