I have not seen this in theaters because most of the critics here are dismissive of it, it found that when the video arrived and what I wanted was not available. He should have ignored the critics. Even if, like me, you're not well versed in Sherlock Holmes (which this film is inspired), you should enjoy this movie. Bill Pullman is wonderful as Daryl Zero, who lives his life by the two "obs; observation and objectivity." It is rare without being too eccentric, and it is very credible and touching. Ben Stiller is a nice foil as its figurehead. Kim Dickens shows PALOOKAVILLE and after that she is a talent to watch. Even I liked Ryan O'Neal, whom I am not a fan. I'm definitely waiting for Jake Kasdan of the upcoming movie, it seems that may be as talented as his father. |
Frankly I loved this movie, which is a kind of update of the classic eccentric genius, Sherlock Holmes. Bill Pullman has a bachelor Nerdy (Darrel Zero), which is "the largest private eye in the world" and Ben Stiller is his time to put something wizard. Like Holmes, Zero has strange abilities of research, and is given to expressive and maximum reservations about the way it does its job. Unlike Ryan O'Neal plays a tycoon (Stark), with a secret or two, and it hires to zero to help him with his problem, which revolves around the loss of a safe deposit box key and blackmail. The rest of the story is an entertaining series of plot twists and turns. The softer and less heavy handed humor blends well with the inevitable consequence skullduggery. The order is such that rather hope for a sequel, which unfortunately never materialized. Under a prized jewel. |
Here's the thing about "Zero Effect," which has to do more than once. It's one of those movies that will only be better every time you see it. Bothers me that this movie does not see the kind of success that plays what it really deserves, but I have a feeling that may well become a cult classic. Bill Pullman (which I normally can not stand) really threw me for a loop as Daryl Zero. I really can not recommend this movie is sufficient. |
The film is riding on this goofy charm from beginning to end. In the past, which had always been slightly turned off by Pullman. But he makes me here to pitch a perfect image of a strange character. One thing you dig about this movie is that despite the fact that it follows the standard plot requirements of a detective mystery, everything comes across fresh. I was continually, completely fooled into believing these characters were not limited by the requirements of the plot. I am a son of mysteries, and will be used to solve the mystery in the movie slot. I do not think that a bad thing. But once in a while, along comes one that makes you forget that there is a slot at all. And this is one of those. At the top of the Pullman 1st class perf. (I'm cracking a smile just thinking about it), Ryan O'Neal and Ben Stiller play to their strengths to great effect. I've never been big fans of them, either. One of the reasons we chose to review this film is that had three players I have never been fond of incredibly, and I loved it in spite of it. Although she loved. Not to mention Kim Dickens, who is a revelation (she in the past few other films of meat and a role on the HBO series of dead). She is just excellent here. You can never find out what is going on in his head. If you love this movie, renting "Freaks and geeks." The director, Jake Kasdan, directed several episodes of this classic, short-lived series. |
Zero Effect (1998) is a great debut by Jake Kasdan. I realized this movie on the shelf of my local Blockbuster and I decided to give it a try. Boy, am glad I did! I will not talk about the plot, as they should watch the movie without knowing anything about it. It turns out that the best way. He is excellent. Bill Pullman is funny, weird, strange as extremely nice and bright even Daryl Zero. Once that appears on the screen is impossible to look away. Ben Stiller is hilarious as the conflict assistant Steve Arlo. These two actors lead the film, along with the great script. The other players do Exceptional performances, but Pullman is easily the best. Jake Kasdan is a great director / writer. I really like the way you do not know the meaning of the title until the last line in the movie. Groovy is an effect. Therefore, people see this movie. Just a dull scene at the hearing and a fantastic history. Zero Effect has an 8 out of 10. |
