Glen Canyon, Arizona, the present day. Wayne, practising at night in the desert for his upcoming fireman's exam, witnesses the impact of a meteorite. The next day, biology teacher Dr. Ira Kane and geology teacher Harry Block from Glen Canyon Community College manage to get to the meteorite, which is stuck in the ground at the bottom of a cave. By taking a sample, they discover a slimy blue fluid coming out of the meteorite. A little later, Ira Kane finds out that myriads of single-celled life-forms dwell in the fluid, evolve at an incredible rate, even while he's watching. What first seems like a sure ticket to Sweden for the Nobel Prize soon develops into a nightmare: By evolving and adapting at that unbelievably fast rate, the Aliens start spreading out, and the Military comes in. Now it all comes down to what Darwin so rightfully stated: Survival of the fittest. And no good idea in sight...

The trailers were somewhat misleading. The DivX Movie Evolution was a parody of science fiction, alien invasion movies. It is seriously funny. (oxymoron, I know). Orlando Jones is a great performance. It was fun to see Julianne Moore in a starring role. Some of the humor is so ... Freud would have some interesting observations about the butt (oh, I'm so smart) some of the jokes and gaffs. Well worth the price of admission.

Absolutely terrible and almost completely devoid of anything that recognizes the humor. Just to underline the obsession of taking the men of America with the anal region to new heights of despair, of course, seasoned with some little-veiled homophobia to be acceptable. This, when combined with what may be really careful attempt to include an interesting Sci - fi premise makes for a Evolution Comedy that manages to be strange and serious in roughly equal proportions. May have been my imagination, but actually you can see the growing awareness of the players' plight dawn on them as the Evolution Comedy movie progresses, their faces tense and increasingly delivery becomes increasingly leaden. A blot on the career of everyone who participated.

I saw this last night (preview) and thought it was so funny I would like to see a second time. It is extremely difficult to bust a gut at this comedy and it does. Hurra by Ivan Reitman, who skillfully directed this great cast of characters (both human and nonhuman)!
