'Moises Kaufman' (qv) and members of New York's Tectonic Theater Project went to Laramie, Wyoming after the murder of 'Matthew Shepard (I)' (qv). This is a film version of the play they wrote based on more than 200 interviews they conducted in Laramie. It follows and in some cases re-enacts the chronology of Shepherd's visit to a local bar, his kidnap and beating, the discovery of him tied to a fence, the vigil at the hospital, his death and funeral, and the trial of his killers. It mixes real news reports with actors portraying friends, family, cops, killers, and other Laramie residents in their own words. It concludes with a Laramie staging of 'Angels in America' a year after Shephard's death.

This DVD film Laramie Project, The enraged me for the simple fact that it was only because he was gay pastor. The men who killed him are clearly perverse. What happened to the poor man is truly awful and a tragedy. However, when Hollywood was when four religious white children were executed after being forced to perform a series of sexual acts in their murderers and each other, by two black men in Wichita wrong just two years ago? The famous mug the camera only when it serves a political purpose. In addition, Laramie is portrayed in a bad light by this pseudo-documentary, which of course is not surprising because they are the ones that Hicks should be brought back omniscient and illustrated by Californians. However, it is always a pleasure to see Laura Linney.
I was very impressed with this documentary-style TV movie. i appreciated the fact that the filmmaker took this approach, giving a sense (at least I hope) of the people on whom these interviews are based, while allowing a buffer zone so that people are not real than to seek publicity or stupid because of their personal beliefs. I thought it was a very prudent approach to take and allows more of a POV impartial in many aspects of what a straight documentary. not to say that this piece was fair - it was not - and I do not think we should have been. But the filmmaker took no low blows and that was refreshing. how the piece was all together is different - I could feel the drama in the next point, the images were much more than the fracture of a standard TV movie, and I could really see that this was not just another murder story come to life on screen. thanks for not doing a re-enactment of the crime! I think it was a more effective way to know what has been described by people. Laramie i felt that the draft is horrible and touching, and I want more pieces that were successful at that level of intestine. I will not forget this movie.
This was not a movie, is a cocktail of Hollywood. The script had all the markings of a last-minute scraped together by a high school student from the theater. The casting, as many others have noted, was a big disappointment. Sure that many of these actors are well known, but that does not mean they were right for the role (or that everything is okay to start). Most of these agents resulted in executions terrible, the worst of which was Joshua Jackson. The sequence seems to indicate that I was playing a bartender in Laramie, but ended up playing the character is a rich liberal Hollywood. It seems like the film: Laramie Project, The was trying to fit the actor for the role, instead of finding the best actor to perform the function. The script is poorly written and never seemed to go nowhere. The scene where the medical break at the press conference was overwritten. The worst scenario is when the Arab or Indian student (sorry, I only saw him once, I can not remember all the details) is in disagreement with the statement that many other citizens who were doing brutal murder is not what the people of Laramie is about, which means that most of them were murderers or condoned murder. I read the news daily and can not remember reading about many murders in Laramie. Portrays the people of Laramie in this way is insulting to their city. At the end of the film, which could not have come too soon, the only point that the movie: Laramie Project, The has done is point out that murder is a bad thing. Hardly a tough sell.
The Laramie Project, The Crime movie was well done. She looked beautiful and well-acted. Having seen the play, I was impressed to see that the Laramie Project, The Crime movie project took on a life of its own and not come across as simply a play on film. I must say that in the end, I hungered for more information on the 5 members of the team that went to Laramie, and in their reactions and motivations for writing the book / movie. As it is, the writer / director has chosen to let the events and people of Laramie to speak for themselves. This is efficient but leaves the Laramie Project, The Crime movie as nothing more than a pseudo-documentary, or a re-enactment. If you decide to make a Laramie Project, The Crime film of these powerful words and deeds, I would love to hear more from the company members about why they wrote the book, which I feel we have to overcome as a country to prevent the kind of hatred and separatism that led to the event, and exactly what role is the art (and, more specifically, this project) can play in that growth. Maybe I'm just asking the spoon feeding my "lesson", instead of relying on me to bring messages of the DivX Movie Laramie Project, The myself. In any case, I congratulate all parties involved (HBO, a large machine, Sundance, etc) to have a chance in this important and unique film. I hope to hear from the Tectonic Theater Company again soon.
A work that is exceptional both in terms of its structure and in terms of the unique nature of the presentation. Is put into sharp focus many of the complex elements of a horror like this and the profound effect it has on the disparity of many participants. The quality of the performance is excellent which shows a dedication to the art that goes beyond mere craftsmanship, and many of the performances are, of course, from the heart and soul. Dylan Baker, Amy Madigan, Jeremy Davies, Peter Fonda, Joshua Jackson, and Camryn Manheim are stellar. The courtroom by the speech of Father Matthew is historic. The location is difficult and attractive. It takes a really cold, trivial, and hardened the heart to dismiss a Laramie Project, The movie Laramie Project, The Crime film based solely on prejudice, the positions regressive policies, and homophobia evident that those dismissals.
