Based on a play, Sleuth confronts two extremely clever British men in a game of trickery and deceit. Andrew Wyke (Michael Cain), an aging famous author who lives alone in a high-tech mansion, after his wife Maggie has left him for a younger man; and Milo Tindle (Jude Law),an aspiring actor, equipped with charm and wit, who demonstrates both qualities once again). When Wyke invite Tindle to his mansion, Tindle seeks to convince the former into letting his wife go by signing the divorce paper. However, Wyke seems far more interested in playing mind games with his wife's new lover, and lures him into a series of actions he thoroughly planned in seeking revenge on his unfaithful spouse.

A very entertaining "thriller" about a wealthy mystery novelist named Andrew Wyke (Olivier), who invites Milo Tindle (Caine) - the working class owner of a chain of hair salons - its sixteenth-century mansion to discuss the issue Milo with Wyke's wife. Instead of being angry, he seems happy and proposes an ingenious system of theft that will benefit both men. Soon, the two men are locked in a duel clever and cunning, but the last laugh at whom? With the ingredients in making the Sleuth film can be as easy. The division consists of only two actors, Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine, but with these heavyweights, it is hard to go wrong. Playwright Anthony Shaffer (Frenzy, The Wicker Man) wrote a brilliant script crackling with witty dialogue, and veteran director Joseph L. Mankiewicz (Letter to three wives, ALL ABOUT EVE), who knows all the tricks of cinema and has a strange Aye to detail, manages to avoid this "game" will become static in any way. It was his last film, and what a great way to say goodbye to film. A real pleasure from start to finish. Highly recommended! Camera Obscura --- 10/10

In England, the Italian English hairdresser Milo Tindle (Michael Caine) is invited by the success of detective stories writer Andrew Wyke (Laurence Olivier) to visit her home alone. The lower class Milo is the loving wife of Andrew, used to have a comfortable life, and intends to marry her. Andrew suggests Milo steal his jewelry simulating a robbery. "Sleuth" shows that a great script, a great director, two top-class players and four scenarios enough to make an excellent film: Sleuth with four Oscar nominations. The smart and know theatrical story lines and surprising twists in a cat and mouse duel between two icons, and has not aged. My vote is nine. Title (Brazil): "Trama diabolica" ( "diabolical plot")

I love this movie! I love everything about it: the performances, direction, plot, script, scenery .... everything! I'm very intrigued by the fact that a two and a half hours of film: Sleuth can be exhilarating and exciting and captivating, with just two men talking in a house with others. Both Olivier and Caine blew me away with their outstanding performances .... is acting as if the production phase. I'm a fan godfather Laurence Olivier, but should have won the Oscar for Best Actor. 5 STARS !!!!!
