Don Anderson (Greg Kinnear) is the Mickey's food restaurant chain's Marketing Director. He is the inventor of the 'Big One' the hamburger best seller of Mickey's. An independent research reports the presence of cow's feces in the Big One. So Don is sent to Cody, Colorado, to verify if the slaughterhouse, main supplier of Mickey's, is efficient as it appears and the production process is regular. During his investigations he discovers the horrible truth behind a simple hamburger; the reality is not like we think it is. Don discovers that the mass production system involves from the temp workers like Amber (Ashley Jonhson), to the exploitation of Mexican irregular immigrants. It is not only the meat that is crush in the mincing machine, but all our society.

It is fascinating (and somewhat disturbing) that, I heard people criticize this movie: Fast Food Nation not to "move" enough, does not seem to consider that this could be his own cynicism, jadedness, or similar accumulations scar tissue. What, of course, the very attitude that allowed the abuses described in the Fast Food Nation Drama film occurs first. Some say that Fast Food Nation has too many problems, but actually it is one thing: America. It invites us to look the way that millions of us live and in the products of our life like this. Linklater and Schlosser, presenting together the themes of fair wages, health, family, drug abuse, etc, give us the full picture. Then we can have a look, those of us who dare to detail, reflect and get to know our own feelings about everything. You must be a serious non-serious skeptical sarcastic enjoy the wisdom of the old farmer brilliantly played by Kris Kristofferson. Similarly, the family, played by Patricia Arquette, Ashley Johnson, Ethan Hawke and feels so real and loving, which anyone with a pulse must be attracted by the promise implicit in his humility. The three actors give subtle nuances yet powerful performances. Luis Guzmán is part of something does not threaten or frighten. Humor is sordid, but quite harmless, smuggler clothes. Worth mentioning is palpable the true nature of "Mike", the supervisor of the meat packing plant played by Bobby Cannavale. His is another good performance in a large and well developed, and completely enjoyable movie.
