Having seen dead Pool, the last of the Dirty Harry series, I must say that I liked this movie as much as the other four. I do not have a favorite, I loved them all. Clint Eastwood recently became interested in movies and I've seen a number of them including westerns. Eastwood is an incredible rate. Has a presence on the screen that is extraordinary. Not that he's a great actor, but I can not take my eyes off him when he is in a scene. His face expresses such expression hysterical when you're with "Waves" or "Wonderful!" He is irreverent, rough, rude, shoots criminals in the back, beating the sh-t of them, antagonized everyone, and so. He is the work done! I liked everybody in the cast, including Patricia Clarkson and his nasal voice. Liam Neeson was great, sounding for all the world exactly as Ralph Fiennes. And the music in all five of the series was fantastic, the best! What a treatment!
I have read all the comments of people who absolutely hated it because it was plausible or stupid .. but I think that's the issue. This is the perfect ending to the series of Dirty Harry, because it's all about the fun of the movie's action genre. First, a fellow karate. The filmmakers are not so stupid, people. Eastwood says to himself that he hates cliché. I think the karate companion was used as a joke. I mean cummon, using his skills on a stage, and then its hospital-mounted like the rest of the sidekicks Eastwood. A chase car with a remote control? I was laughing in front of my ass! That is the funniest thing I've ever seen and totally bash all these movies with persecutions of stylish cars that are just really fast SpEd cutting pieces of trash (for example, The Rock). The last scene of the film speaks a lot, too. We have all seen the 5 Dirty Harry movies until the final scene of the series Eastwood and the gun runs out of bullets in the hands of the enemy? Cummon, this is the first time you run turn bullets. Harry never has to reload because its Hollywood. This last scene is a perfect end for conducting the hearing of the Dirty Harry style of the film and again in the action genre in Hollywood that comes later. All agreements that created the Dirty Harry series is finally laid to rest, and the filmmakers are fully aware of what they are doing.
I've been watching some of Clint Eastwood movies lately and I am finding them very good. I do not normally go for a dead material, but the group was made some time ago so now let me get to it. Eastwood plays the role of Dirty Harry Callahan, once again, and playing very well. It may not be in his prime, but still had in him to pull off a fifth movie. The plot with the film director and celebrities get knocked out of the movie was not really original, but I assume that this was the 1980s and that could leave him. Jim Carrey's performance was almost forgettable, but each actor has to start somewhere I guess. Liam Neeson did a half decent job in the role it was playing and the remote control car scene was really good too. I will not be holding my breath for a Dirty Harry 6 because never happen so we just have to be happy with what has been done.
Dirty Harry was never sufficiently original to support a long series. In a matter of fact, it would have worked better as a TV series. "The Dead Pool" is slightly amusing, but terribly unoriginal. Things go bang, Squeal of car tires, famous people killed, etc, etc. Clint Eastwood is twice as stoic in the role that previous deadlines. Buddy Van Horn direction is uninspired ... In fact, the only things that stand out from Lalo Schifrin's score Jim Carrey and performance. Average at best, but entertaining Dirty Harry fans. 6.5 out of 10
I'm rewatching all customers Eastwoods Dirty Harry movies (and some others). Although this is not the best of the lot, its still entertaining from the beginning with Harry in a scene and stunt car problems that engages the viewer immediately. Eastwood comes naturally to shoot. The banter between the police in the offices is very 70's and as Stilt, but Eastwood manages her scenes as well. Not many liked the journalist in the movie, but I thought it was one of the best leading ladies in a movie of the early Eastwood. I especially liked the Asian actor (sorry I forgot your name) and felt he was well coincide with the character of Eastwood. One of the first martial arts scene is well and is very credible - even more powerful than the shooting Clint. I thought the small car arena was deflected stupid and otherwise a good film. Watch the old typewriter and the computer and what happens as office furniture at the time. Furthermore, I believe most will agree Eastwood rose above this silly story lightly. He is at his best in a scene from jail, where he manipulates two convictions. To me, the highlight of your movie.
